> How to start capturing data for a surgical procedure

# Begin an Operation

Start a surgical procedure and connect your Tesa device to capture intraoperative data.

## Starting a Procedure

    Click **Begin Operation** from the dashboard or navigation menu
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select Appointment">
    Choose from your scheduled appointments for today
  </Step>

  <Step title="Verify Patient Information">
    Confirm the patient and procedure details are correct
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose Data Capture Mode">
    Select Live (Bluetooth), Manual, or Dual Manual mode
  </Step>

  <Step title="Connect Device (if Live mode)">
    Pair your Tesa device via Bluetooth
  </Step>

  <Step title="Begin Capture">
    Click **Start** to begin recording data
  </Step>

## Data Capture Modes

### Live Mode (Bluetooth)

Connect a Tesa device to capture real-time measurements:

    Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your device

  <Step title="Power On Tesa Device">
    Turn on your Tesa tensioner
  </Step>

  <Step title="Scan for Devices">
    Click **Scan** to find nearby Tesa devices
  </Step>

  <Step title="Connect">
    Select your device from the list to connect
  </Step>

### Manual Mode

Enter measurements manually when a Bluetooth device isn't available:

* Enter tension values directly
* Input flexion angles
* Add timestamps manually
* Useful for documentation or training

### Dual Manual Mode

For bilateral procedures with two tensioners:

* Enter left and right measurements separately
* Track both sides independently
* Compare bilateral data

## Pre-Operative Checklist

Before starting, verify:

* [ ] Correct patient selected
* [ ] Procedure template matches surgery type
* [ ] Device charged (if using Bluetooth)
* [ ] Location and date confirmed

## Quick Actions During Operation

While capturing data, you can:

* **Add Notes** - Record surgical findings
* **Capture Images** - Take photos or upload DICOM images
* **Voice Notes** - Dictate observations
* **Pause/Resume** - Temporarily pause data capture
* **View Chart** - See tension/angle graph in real-time
